SALEM, Va. - Bridgewater's record-setting
season came to an end with a 6-1 loss to Roanoke College in the
first-round of the ODAC Tournament played Saturday.
The Eagles trailed just 1-0 at the half as the Maroons scored on
a goal by Ashley Manning with less than two minutes remaining in
the opening half.
Things went downhill in a hurry in the second half for the
Eagles as Roanoke put the contest away with three goals in the
first 17 minutes of the second half. All three goals came off
corner kicks as the Maroons took a 4-0 lead. Carmen Graves scored
the first two goals of the second hald for Roanoke and Jessica
Welfare added the third. McKenzie Garst assisted on all three of
the goals.
Bridgewater avoided the shutout when Brittney Harris scored in
the 70th minute, making the score 4-1. Cyrnthia Suttora and Steph
Parenteau added late goals for the Maroons, making the final score
6-1.
Bridgewater finished the season with a 13-6-1 record, the most
wins in the women's soccer program's history.
