How it Happened

  • The opening minutes of the match set the tone for an offensive duel between the two teams. In the second minute, St. Mary's struck first from a shot sent low center by Franco Reyes. Bridgewater responded 30 seconds later with a goal of their own from Anthony Eugenio

  • In the seventh minute, Cole Dunbar, assisted by Eugenio, gave the Eagles their first lead of the match.

  • The Seahawks struck back in the 12th minute with a goal from Nick Haney, assisted by Zach Blaum. St. Mary's had a few more shot attempts in the next few minutes, but to no avail.

  • The shot attempts slowed down for the remainder of the first half but picked up early in the second half when Will Flores sent a shot into the gloves of the SMC keeper. Riley Queen took a shot of its own, but it was also stopped by SMC's goalie. The Seahawks responded with four shots of their own, but all attempts were off the mark.

  • Locklear and Widrick put shots on target, but none were able to find nylon. In the 81st minute, SMC's Ethan Wright fouled Riley Queen inside of the box. Queen found the back of the net on his penalty shot to lift the Eagles over SMC.
