The Basics

Final Score: Bridgewater 2, Mary Baldwin 0
Records: Bridgewater 1-0-0, Mary Baldwin 0-1-0

How It Happened
  • Bridgewater struck in the opening minutes of the contest. The Eagles has a throw-in deep in the MBU end and they capitalized as Trey Widrick flicked a ball on to Anthony Eugenio who found the back of the net to make it 1-0 for BC two minutes in.
  • The Eagles continued to control the pace with multiple chances including a pair of shots by Riley Queen that were turned aside by the Mary Baldwin defense. Ethan Locklear added to the shot party as he put one on target, but another MBU save kept it just a 1-0 edge heading to the half.
  • Mary Baldwin had two corner kicks around five minutes into the second half, bit neither mustered a shot. The Eagles flipped the field and continued to roll with the momentum as Anthony Medrano fired a pair of shots that both missed wide.
  • BC continued to push with multiple corner kicks in the Mary Baldwin end including shots from Medrano and Locklear. Locklear put another shot on target on a corner kick, but it was turned aside. BC finally added to the lead after many chances as Medrano found Queen off of a failed clear attempt by the Fighting Squirrels and the all-region selection from a year ago made it 2-0 for BC. The game got physical late including a red card for the home side. MBU got its one and only shot on goal in the final minute and it was scooped up by Zane Kowalski to secure the season-opening shutout.
