Women's Track & Field Stands in Third After Day 1 at ODAC Championships

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Bridgewater women's track & field started off the ODAC championships in third place as a team after the first day Friday at EMU Track & Field Complex.

The women finished with 28 points in the team score after day one. Washington & Lee leads the way through six events of 20 total with 72 points and Lynchburg holds second with 49 points, respectively.

To get the day started well, the field athletes came ready to go. Summer Wallace took a bronze medal in the long jump with a mark of 5.33m. Wallace also competed well in the high jump, tied for fifth with fellow teammate Maddie Watson as they both posted a mark of 1.52m. 

Abby Mikolay earned a bronze medal in the shot put going up against season bests and personal bests all around her in the field. Mikolay threw 11.81m. Mikolay also took a fourth-place effort in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.78m. 

Then, as action shifted over to the track, the Eagles continued to perform. Both Olivia Crigger and Olivia Bates advanced to the finals in the 100-meter hurdles to start out the track events.  

Jade Buckles took on the 100m dash turning in a preliminary second-place finish to advance to the finals. Joining her with an automatic qualification to the finals was Wallace. Finals will resume tomorrow in the final day of competition.

The Eagles will begin again at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 26.
