TYSONS CORNER, Va. - Bridgewater baseball fell short to nationally recognized Marymount, 9-8 on the road at Capital One Park Wednesday night.
The Basics
Score: Marymount (MU) 9, Bridgewater (BCE) 8
Records: MU (9-2), BCE (7-4)
How It Happened
-
Zack Chadwell opened the scoring with a single out to left to bring home Trent Holland. However, in the bottom of the first, the Saints responded boldly by ringing in three runs with a pair of RBI singles and a scored run on a fielder's choice. Next inning, MU broke the score open launching a three-run homer after an RBI double.
-
In the third inning, the Eagles added a run on fielder's choice to knock in Nick Stavros. Soon after, Chandler Valbak crossed home on a ball darted in play. Then at a six-run deficit, Chadwell fired a shot over the wall for a solo homer. Bryce Suters repeated that action, this time with runners on base and sent a far shot over the wall for a three-run homer.
-
Although fighting back late in the game, the Saints squeezed by the Eagles on a game-deciding RBI single. After the rain delay, the Eagles could not get Chadwell around to equalize the score, giving MU the edge for the 9-8 final.
