How It Happened
-
In the first quarter, BCE pounded the defense with sharp attacks through the Vixen's third and tallied five goals in two minutes scored by five different players (Paige Mayers, Grace Pietro, Jenna Entsminger, Paige Overeem, and Kena Gresham). At the eight-minute mark, Mayers pinned one past the goalie for the sixth goal on the day in a solo drive in the crease. Then, off a draw control, the Eagles quickly got possession in comfortable territory a laid another goal scored by Jenna Entsminger. With successful ground ball pickups in the offensive zone, Overeem, Olivia Larence, Mayers, and Entsminger dotted shots in the back of the net to take a convincing 11-0 lead.
-
Right out of the gate in the second quarter, Caris Cianelli rushed up the field and connected with Pietro to get the pass and rocket a shot past the goalie for the 12th goal in 10 seconds of action. Costly turnovers and successful ground ball pickups for BCE became more successful in the quarter as Pietro took advantage of breaking down field separating from the defense to then send another goal through the defense. Soon after, Pietro took advantage of a free position attempt (first of the day) and converted to make the lead stand 14-0. Entsminger, Mayers, and Carly Gardill each contributed a goal to end the first half at 17-0.
-
The Eagles managed to successfully close offensive attacks made by the Vixens and continued to capitalize on failed clears. Overeem got a free position goal at the 8:53 mark in the third quarter and soon, three more goals were added in a span of four minutes to close out the third, 21-0.
-
The Vixens had a free position attempt in the fourth quarter to break the shutout, but the shot was sent wide. Off the strong clear and aggressive drive in the opposition's zone, Entsminger and Cianelli topped off the high-scoring day at 24-0.
