How It Happened

  • Lynchburg had the game's first chances, but saves by Ashley Nau kept the game scoreless. BC replied with a counterattack, and it paid off just over five minutes in as Kylie Amberger fired her shot to the back of the net to make it 1-0 for the Eagles. Lynchburg replied five minutes later with their first tally to even the game on a strike from Hannah Christenbury. Lynchburg took the lead in the final seconds of the opening stanza as Nau made a save on the first chance after a penalty corner, but Maddie Schuchter corralled the rebound and buried ti to make it 2-1 for the Hornets at the end of the opening stanza.

  • The home team added on to the lead two minutes into the second quarter as another rebound off of a save by Nau found a Hornet stick and reached the back of the net to make it 3-1. Lynchburg had multiple chances to add to the tally heading into the intermission but failed to get a shot off of multiple penalty corners. BC earned a penalty corner right before the end of the frame, but it too did not get a shot off.

  • Schuchter added to the tally again just under two minutes into the third quarter as she found the back of the net to make it 4-1. Lynchburg kept the pedal down as Callie Short and Schuchter found the back of the net before the end of the third frame to run it to a 6-1 edge going into the fourth.

  • It was Schuschter again who added to the lead for the Hornets as her tally made it 7-1 four minutes into the final frame. Lynchburg had multiple chances down the stretch, but saves by Madalyn Miller kept the scoreline the same.
