Queen, Widrick lead Eagles Past Hornets

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's soccer team won a road match against Shenandoah 3-1 Saturday night.

The Basics

Score: Bridgewater 3, Shenandoah 1

Records: Bridgewater, (9-2-2, 4-0-1 ODAC), Shenandoah (4-6-4, 1-2-2 ODAC)

How it Happened

  • The Eagles were in the driver's seat early on. BC had possession in Shenandoah's defensive end in the third minute of the match. Erick Lobo dished a pass to Riley Queen, who took a shot from range and found the back of the net to put BC on the board.

  • Shenandoah had their first shot of the match shortly after the Bridgewater goal, but it was stopped by Zane Kowalski. Trey Widrick looked to add to the BC tally in the fifth minute, but his shot was stopped by the Shenandoah keeper.

  • Aside from a shot on target from Matthew Brand-Jimenez, Shenandoah racked up shot attempts in the following minutes.

  • With 18 minutes left in the half, Trey Widrick drove the ball down the middle of the field and sent a shot low left past the SU keeper to give the Eagles an insurance goal.

  • In the early minutes of the second half, Queen and Widrick each sent shots towards the goal, but all attempts were off the mark.

  • In the 60th minute, Widrick sent a pass to Queen in the middle of the field. Queen took a touch and found nylon on a shot from range for his second goal of the match.

  • Shenandoah got on the board in the 65th minute on a set piece. Shenandoah's Otto Grant sent a corner kick near the box, and it was headed by Dylan Johnson. Before getting past Kowalski, the ball was redirected by a Noah Finley header.
