How It Happened
- Each team had opportunities early as both squads came away empty on corner kicks in the opening seven minutes. Sophia Phillips was able to get a shot off on the BC attempt, but it was blocked. The Eagles kept on the offensive with shots by Katherine and King and Laura Narby heading towards the cage but missing the target. King and Phillips each finally found the frame for the Eagles in the 18th and 19th minutes, but Sophia Kavulich made the stop for Dickinson.
- BC had a corner kick in the 21st minute and registered a shot on the back-side of it as Kendall Garza put a shot on frame that was turned away by Kavulich. Dickinson turned the tide after the Garza rip as Micah Stine made a leaping save in the 26th minute on a Lauren Ervin shot from the Red Devils. A corner kick for DC almost broke the scoreless tie as a shot was heading to the near post that was wide open off a deflection. Cassandra Villafan came up big for BC as she knocked the ball away for the team save in front of the open net. The Devils had a look at the rebound but missed the cage.
- The Red Devils started the second half wit the pedal to the floor with a pair of corner kicks in the opening minutes. BC fought off both chances ad looked to flip the field with shots from Birkley and Skyler Daum, but both chances were blocked.
- The two sides traded corner kicks at the 60th minute with neither coming up with a score. Dickinson was able to make a run in the 70th minute as a pass got in behind the BC midfield and left a one-on-one on the near side. Ava Prisco dribbled in for the Red Devils and hit the sharp angle to the far post to break the scoreless knot and put DC in front 1-0.
- Bridgewater made a personnel adjustment after the goal and the push for offense was on. The Eagles tallied five shots in the game's closing 15 minutes, but none found the cage including a Birkley miss to the left of the cage in the 88th minute.
