ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team stumbled against Marymount falling 21-13 on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bridgewater jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Kaity Petersheim and Paige Mayers each scored in the opening minutes of the contest. The Saints responded with a goal at the 10:35 mark by Arayla Garcia to cut the lead down to just one. Consecutive man-up goals from Marymount gave the home team a 3-2 lead with 6:14 to go in the first quarter. Mayers netted her second of the period to knot the contest at 3-3 with exactly five minutes left on the clock, which held until the horn as the game was still tied after the first 15 minutes.Â
- Petersheim started the second quarter how she started the first - with a goal inside the first minute of action as Bridgewater jumped out in front once again. She followed that with her third goal of the afternoon to give BC a 5-3 advantage with 12:56 left in the half. The Saints battled back with two goals of their own to tie things up again at 5-5 with 9:32 showing on the game clock. Petersheim found the back of the cage for the fourth time at 9:17 of the third period before Garcia scored for the Saints to tie things up once again. Petersheim wasn't finished as she scored another at the 6:50 mark to push the Eagles in front, 7-6. The Saints ended the half with a four-goal run to take a 10-7 lead into the recess.
- Starting off the second half, Petersheim set a new career-high with her sixth goal of the contest off a pass from Ashley Venit to make it 10-8, but the Saints scored twice in a row to maintain a 12-8 advantage. Mayers scored in a woman-up goal off a feed from Venit at the 8:29 mark to make it 12-9 followed by Aunnie Hacker scoring one of her own after getting a pass from Jenna Entsminger, 12-10. Just as the Eagles started to make things close, Marymount went on to score two more to keep a four-goal cushion. Hacker scored with a player down with an assist to Tavin Krick as the Eagles got within three goals at 14-11. The home side netted two more at the end of the third to take a 16-11 lead into the final 15 minutes.
- Entsminger started things off in the fourth with a goal before Brooke Hanson added a tally on a pass from Hacker to get BC back within three goals with 13 minutes left to play. The Saints held the Eagles off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game and ended the contest on a five-goal scoring run to take a 21-13 victory.Â
GAME STATS
- As previously mentioned, Petersheim finished with a career-high six goals, which passes her previous high of five goals in a single game, which happened twice her freshman season.
- Mayers also recorded a hat trick, while Hacker had two goals and an assist to finish with three points.
- Entsminger and Hanson each tallied one goal with Entsminger also finishing with a helper.
- Mayers led the team with six draw controls while Grace Pietro had three and Petersheim and Entsminger each had one.
- Krick and Rachael Robinson each picked up two ground balls, while Mayers, Petersheim, Caris Cianelli, Aubrey Beale, Venit and Pietro all had one. Krick also led the team with two caused turnovers.Â
- Marymount out shot Bridgewater 34-25 and had a 12-9 advantage in ground balls.Â
- A physical game saw a total of 28 cards.
