HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bridgewater got the scoring started in the top of the second. A single to center field by Camden Herron was followed up with an RBI double by Jonathan Sexton to put the Eagles in front 1-0. James Swart held the N.C. Wesleyan bats in check through two scoreless innings.
  • Jeffrey Snider kept the scoring going in the third powering a home run to right field giving BC the 2-0 advantage. Brandan Hartman continued the inning drawing a walk which brought up Nick Stavros who was hit by a pitch, but the Battling Bishops got out of trouble with effective pitching. N.C. Wesleyan responded drawing back-to-back walks and followed it up with a single to right field scoring one.
  • Both sides were effective on the mound throwing scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth. Bridgewater got the scoring going again in the sixth when Stavros led off the inning drawing a walk eventually scoring off a single to left field by Kyle Carlson. The Battling Bishops negated the Eagles' insurance run when Colin Scoggins stepped up to the plate and put one over the left field wall to cut the deficit 3-2.
  • Caleb Penner checked into the game for Reid Long in the bottom of the ninth for a save situation. Penner closed out the game striking out the side and gave BC the win 3-2.
