HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's basketball team overcame a nine-point deficit on the way to taking down EMU 63-53 on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- EMU opened the contest on a 6-0 run before Riley Corcoran drained a three-pointer to get the Eagles on the board. The Royals capitalized on a long rebound and took it coast-to-coast before a Kayla Surles three-pointer made it 11-3 for the Royals. Out of a timeout, Alexis Edmonds made a pair at the line to cut into the deficit and followed with two more later in the quarter to get the Eagles to within four. EMU knockced down another long ball and followed with a layup late in the shot clock to make it 16-7 in favor of the home side after one quarter.
- BC opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run to get to within a point with 8:07 to go in the quarter thanks to six-straight points from Jaden Alsberry. The two teams traded buckets with BC floating around a one-point deficit. Another Surles three-ball putting the Royals up by four. A pair of free throws from Abby Freeman got the Eagles back to within a possession and India Dailey drained a three-pointer to give BC its first lead at 25-24. EMU responded with a bucket and a stop and drained another long ball to extend the lead. Reagan Maynard drilled a three-pointer to get the Eagles back to within a point at the end of the half at 29-28.
- Dailey got BC in front to start the second half before EMU wrestled the lead back with a pair of free throws. Jay Garcia drained a pair at the line and consecutive buckets from Alsberry pushed it to a 36-31 Eagles' advantage. The Royals ended the scoring run and BC replied with a pair of makes at the line from Freeman. Consecutive buckets from EMU made the lead juts a point before Alexis Edmonds drained a three-pointer with 17 seconds left in the quarter. Rosemary Pierson made a free throw with under five seconds to go in the half to make it 42-37 in favor of the Eagles heading to the fourth.
- EMU pulled to within a pair as Surles drained another three-pointer. Edmonds found Corcoran for a corner-three to nullify the EMU bucket and Alsberry drained a turn-around jumper to give BC a seven-point advantage. The Royals got a score and looked to capitalize, but Dailey drained another three-pointer on a dish from Garcia to make it 50-42. EMU responded with an 8-2 run to close to within a pair before a second-chance bucket from Garcia stopped the run momentarily. Surles knocked down another three-pointer to get EMU back to within a point, but again Garcia knocked down a turn-around jumper to swing the momentum. Garcia's make started a 9-0 Eagles run to put the game away.
MATCH NOTES
- Dailey led BC with a season-high 12 points. Alsberry tallied 11 points and Corcoran added 10.
- Surles pushed EMU with a game-high 22 points by virtue of six makes from deep.
- The Royals held a 16-7 advantage after a quarter and held BC to just one make from the floor in the opening quarter. Bridgewater flipped the script by outscoring EMU 56-37 over the final three frames, highlighted by shooting 56.3% from the floor in the fourth quarter.
- Gracia tallied her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Garcia also tallied a pair of blocks and assists in the win in her hometown.
