HOW IT HAPPENED
- James Swart was effective opening the game giving the Bullets little opportunity for offense in the top of the first. The Eagles started things off in the bottom of the first inning when back-to-back walks put runners in scoring position for Brandan Hartman who found open grass in right center to plate two runners. Nick Stavros kept the inning alive using his patience to draw a walk. With two outs Jonathan Sexton drew a walk to load the bases. BC could not capitalize ending the inning with the lead of 2-0.
- Bridgewater continued to lay down hits in the bottom of the second when Christian Harris came to the plate dropping in a single up the middle. Lucas Bauer doubled down the right field line to advance Christian Harris from second. With runners threatening Gettysburg, Jeffrey Snider came to the plate and delivered a single through the right side to score a run. Hartman continued his impressive day singling to the left side to bring home two more runners. With one out on the scoreboard, Luke Tomajczyk reached first safely on an error from second base. Sexton singled later in the inning to plate Hartman from second. The scoring ensued on the next at-bat when Nick Dawson singled to left center to increase the lead to 7-0. Bauer came to the plate with the bases loaded and dropped in a double to conclude the Eagles' scoring and give them a 10-0 lead.
- The Bullets found runs in their half of the third when Matthew Vivona singled to center field plating the runner from third. Vivona then came around to score on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to eight, 10-2. Swart managed to get out of the inning getting the last out on a strike out swinging. BC kept its scoring streak alive when Sexton singled up the middle scoring two runners to make it a 12-2 game.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Gettysburg decided to go to its bullpen to square off with Snider. Snider delivered a towering shot over the center field wall to give Bridgewater the 13-2 advantage. Hartman and Tomajczyk drew walks, but to no avail, as the Bullets ended the inning.
- Gettysburg captured two more runs in the top of the fifth with a Jack Burke triple bringing home the runner from first. Vivona then singled up the middle to drive in Burke from third base cutting the lead 13-4. Tristan Gordon opened the bottom of the fifth reaching first on an error then rounded the bases and eventually scored off a wild pitch.
- Joe Christopher came in relief for Swart in the top of the sixth after 5.0 innings of work getting the first batter out on strikes. Hunter Del Guercio reached first on error then scored off a wild pitch later in the inning. With Hartman and Snider on first and second, Tomajczyk struck a single to left field to plate Snider.
- Hunter Covill shut down batters in the top of the seventh striking out two on his way to three outs. BC ended its scoring streak in the bottom of the seventh after back-to-back batters drew walks. Jake Harris stepped up to the plate and drew a walk to bring home Dawson from third base. The Bullets escaped the inning getting the last Bridgewater batter looking at strike three.
- Three more pitchers entered the game for the Eagles with Tyler Jones entering in the ninth to close the door. An error from third base put runners on first and third.
