HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One:
  • The Bulldogs took the lead early in the top of the second after Jack Sague doubled down the third base line to score Gavin Zavorski. Jeremy Stanix tripled down the right field line to bring in another run giving DeSale a 2-0 lead. Nick Harris escaped impending trouble getting the last out on a swinging strike out.
  • In the top of the third, with one runner on, Zavorski issued a single to left field scoring the runner from second base to add on a run and make it 3-0. However, Nick Harris punched out the last batter to end the inning. BC could not muster any offense in their half of the third.
  • Bridgewater put some successful at-bats together in the bottom of the fourth with Christian Harris drawing a walk. Luke Tomajczyk used his speed to force the fielder into throwing the ball away. Tristan Gordon flied out to right field allowing Tomajczyk and Christian Harris to move up on the tag. Another error from the Bulldogs allowed Nick Stavros to plate Christian Harris putting the Eagles within two.
  • Both teams went to their respective bullpens with Hunter Covill coming in relief for Nick Harris in the top of the sixth. Sague scored off a JT Anderosky single to right field to increase the lead 4-1. Jonathan Sexton had a huge throw down to second base ending the inning and preventing anymore runners crossing the plate.
  • Jared Peake came in for Andrew Baugher in the top of the seventh. Patrick Kusters began the inning with a triple to right field who was then brought home after a bunt single. Colin McCunney grounded out to second base but was able to score Owen Fischl to give DeSales a 6-1 advantage. BC responded quickly in the bottom of the seventh when Lucas Bauer singled through the 5-6 hole. Christian Harris walked which then brought Tomajczyk up who doubled down the left field line bringing home Brandan Hartman from second. Gordon kept inning alive drawing a walk which then saw Stavros score the runner from third off a sacrifice fly to right field. Bridgewater was unable to string anymore runs together with the Bulldogs taking the win 6-3.

  • Reid Long was effective on the mound holding the Bulldogs to five scoreless innings. BC loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth after the DeSales staff chose to intentionally walk Jeffrey Snider which then brought up Bauer who doubled down the right field line to bring two runners home. Hartman replicated his teammate by powering a double to right center field allowing Bauer and Snider to score. TJ Johnson came up to bat with Hartman on base and hit a towering home run to the left side putting Bridgewater up 7-0.
  • Long continued his dominance giving the Bulldogs' lineup nothing to put into play. Travis Kerr led DeSales with a double to center field in the top of the seventh. A few batters later, the Eagles decided to go to the bullpen and bring in Caleb Penner in for Long. With bases loaded, Matt Worek grounded out to second scoring Kerr.
