HOW IT HAPPENED

The final scoring came from Shane Anhalt who scored Fischl on a sacrifice fly to center field. James Swart closed out the inning striking out the batter looking. The Eagles tried to replicate the Bulldogs' offensive showing but went down in order.
  • The second inning started the same way for DeSales with Andrew McGowan hitting a home run to right center to make the score 4-0. Swart rebounded striking out the next pitcher and relied on effective defense to end the top half of the inning.
  • BC got the bats going in the third when Luke Tomajczyk doubled down the left field line to start the inning. Kyle Carlson kept momentum alive hitting a single to deep center field that brought Tomajczyk to third base. Tristan Gordon scored Tomajczyk from third following a groundout to shortstop to cut the deficit to three, 4-1.
  • Bridgewater continued to put successful bats together in the bottom of the fourth with Jeffrey Snider showing patience at the plate drawing a walk. Brandan Hartman reached on first with a fielder's choice which then allowed for an advance after a Nick Stavros walk. Lucas Bauer loaded the bases for Jonathan Sexton, after drawing a walk, who then hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Hartman. Tomajczyk ripped a double to center field knotting the score up at 4-4.
  • DeSales took the lead back in their half of the fifth following a Gavin Zavorski single up the middle to score Kerr. The next two batters drove in runs off hits to increase the lead to 7-4. The Eagles responded quickly when Hartman drove in Christian Harris from first off a double down the left field line making the score 7-5.
  • In the top of the sixth, the Bulldogs increased their advantage following a Fischl double to left center to plate two RBIs. Following that at-bat, Kerr singled to center field to allow two more runners to score increasing the lead to 11-5.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Gordon drove a ball deep to left field getting three RBIs across the plate. Christian Harris kept the inning alive singling to left field which gave Snider the opportunity to triple on a ball hit deep to right center cutting the lead to two, 11-9.
  • With bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Andrew Baugher effectively halted the runners in place after a huge strikeout and a pop fly to the Gordon.
