WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater College women's volleyball swept Shenandoah in a three-set victory on the road Wednesday night.

How It Happened

Both teams started off even, trading offensive attacks and searching for the opening surge. The Hornets got off to a 3-0 streak, but the Eagles quickly erased the deficit with a shaky offensive strike by SU. As the first set carried on, each point became more critical to take advantage of to grab the opening set. With the Hornets up 26-25, the Eagles stormed back with a 3-0 consecutive streak to close out the first, 28-26.

SU would continue to run into offensive mistakes, causing crucial attack errors and allowing the Eagles to outperform on the attacking end. The huge 5-0 streak in the middle of the second set helped maintain a sizable lead for the Eagles. Then, shortly after BCE kept on the gas to go on a 10-0 run to end the second set, 25-10.

Similarly to how the first two sets played out, BCE would not look back and remained aggressive in the third set. After an early 5-0 run, the Eagles kept a comfortable lead to keep the Hornets at bay throughout the set. As the third set started off with a monster kill by Rachael Meyers, the match ended with a defiant spike by Meyers to give the Eagles a final set score of 25-17.
