LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College women's volleyball won in four sets in the regular season finale against Randolph on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
Score: Bridgewater (BCE) 3, Randolph (RC) 1
Records: BCE (21-6 Overall, 10-2 Conf.), RC (14-14 Overall, 4-8 Conf.)
How It Happened
-
Both teams started off even matching the intensity early in the match. The Eagles jumped out to two different scoring streaks beginning to separate themselves from their opponent, but Randolph later in the set caught up with its own 4-0 streak. BCE successfully pulled ahead again with a couple crucial kills to close the first set, 25-20.
-
Then, Randolph got off to a strong start in the second set and never looked back the entire way maintaining the lead. The Wildcats amassed two commanding scoring surges late in the set causing too much ground to make up for the Eagles, as BCE dropped the set, 25-16.
-
The Eagles reversed the momentum back to their side in the third set, aggressively knocking down kills and limiting attack errors to just two the whole set. The two 4-0 scoring streaks pressured the Wildcat's defense too much to make any real fix. BCE finished out the set with ease, 25-9.
-
As the fourth and final set rolled on, the Eagles continued to target their spots more accurately, only giving up one attack error the entire set. BCE went on a commanding lead in the middle of the set to give them all the advantages to swing big and the team took the final set, 25-13.
