Field Hockey Falls to #14 Lynchburg Wednesday

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College field hockey fell to No. 14 Lynchburg Wednesday by a score of 5-0 on the road at Shellenberger Field.

How It Happened

  • Lynchburg pounced first to begin play as the Hornets scored in the first minute of the game.
  • Bridgewater would remain scoreless in the first half, while the Hornets continued to move the ball up field efficiently and successfully, laying down three more goals before the half.
  • Carynn Klingler led the Eagles with the lone shot on goal from the first half.
  • The Hornets kept an aggressive offense throughout the game, and secured a fifth goal minutes before the horn at the end of the third. 
 

Game Notes

  • Lynchburg maintained an accurate shots to target ratio racking up 11 on goal of 13 shots taken, compared to BCE's one shot on goal of five taken. 

  • The Eagles goalkeeper Madalyn Miller finished with the most shots faced all season (10) and saved five.

The Eagles are back in action at home on Sunday, Oct. 6 against St. Mary's College of Maryland. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
