Women's Soccer Puts Up Nine in Win over Hollins

ROANOKE, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's soccer team picked up its ninth first ODAC win of the season in convincing fashion with a 9-0 shutout against Hollins on Saturday.

How It Happened
  • Bridgewater hopped in front early and in a flurry with two goals in the game's opening five minutes. Lyric Birkley was able to find Katherine King to get the scoring going first in the fourth minute as King buried her shot to make it 1-0. Birkley connected with Daum a minute later on a long throw that found Laura Narby who flicked a pass on to Skyler Daum who found the back of the net to make it 2-0 five minutes in.
  • Daum got in on the scoring action in the eighth minute as she found Narby to make it 3-0. Narby wasn't done helping the offense out as she found Cassandra Villafan who fired home her shot for her second tally of the season and to make it 4-0 under 10 minutes in.
  • Birkley got in on the scoring after the pair of helpers already in the game. The Ohio native found the back of the net off a corner kick from Brianna Curro in the 11th minute and was able to corral her own rebound four minutes later to make it 6-0 15 minutes in.
  • BC tagged on wo more scores in the opening half as Aliana Ferreira and CJ Sipling each tallied the first goals of their collegiate careers to make it 80 BC at the half. Sipling wasn't done there as she added the final tally in the victory in the 74th minute on an assist from Micah Stine.
Match Notes
  • Birkley led the Eagles with two goals and two assists along with five shots on goal. Narby also tallied a goal and a pair of assists in the victory.
  • Both Logan Boone and Rylee Asiello made a save in goal for the Eagles as the pair split the game in half. The pair of Hollins keepers combined for 10 saves.
  • The Eagles held a healthy margin across the stat sheet including a 33-3 advantage in shots and a 19-2 edge in shots on goal.
