The Basics
Final Score: Bridgewater 1, Lynchburg 1
Records: Bridgewater 4-6-5 (1-3-3 ODAC); Lynchburg 8-4-3 (5-1-2 ODAC)

How It Happened
  • Lynchburg had a dangerous opportunity early, but a falling save by Rylee Asiello kept the game scoreless 87 seconds in. BC flipped the field and Lyric Birkley rifled a shot just off the bottom half of the crossbar as the game remained tied. A corner kick at the 10-minute mark gave Lynchburg a pair of shots with the second being scooped up by Asiello.
  • Bridgewater got on the board in the 12th minute as Birkley made a run down the far side and pulled the keeper before she sent a cross-crease pass to Laura Narby who buried her shot to make it 1-0 in favor of BC. The goal sparked the Bridgewater offense and the two sides traded chances down the stretch including a pair of shots that were blocked by the Eagles inside the final minute to take a 1-0 advantage into the intermission.
  • The Hornets had a pair of corner kicks in the opening two minutes of the second half and took full advantage as a failed clear resulted on a cross into the box by Claire Lloyd and Sam Rogstd buried her shot to even the game at 1-1. After a Skyler Daum shot that was blocked, Lynchburg kept the offensive pressure up with multiple shots in close. Asiello made a save on the first and the other two chances missed wide.
  • Lynchburg kept pushing for offense, but the Eagles had multiple responses including a deep run into the box that resulted in a Daum shot on the back post that just missed wide. The Eagles had a pair of corner kicks around the 80th minute and Daum was able to fire another chance but missed high and wide. Lynchburg flipped the field and had a free kick in the final 90 seconds, but some nifty defense from the BC backline forced the 1-1 draw.
