How it HappenedÂ
- Bridgewater gained momentum early as BC earned a corner kick before the game was two minutes old. The Eagles did not earn a shot on the attempt but a few moments later Laura Narby rifled a shot, but it sailed wide of the cage. Lynchburg flipped the field on the ensuing goal kick and got two shots on target that were both turned away by Carlee Gaboury.
- The Eagles had a flurry of chances around the eight-minute mark as Skyler Daum fired a shot on frame that was saved by Jade Lecklider. Narby and Lyric Birkley also fired shots in the following minutes but neither found the target. Lynchburg once again flipped the field and got a shot on net that Gaboury scooped up to keep the game scoreless.
- Both teams made adjustments nearing the 30th minute and Lynchburg finally broke through as Elora Grochowski found Victoria Newman for the score to make it 1-0 for the Hornets. Madeline Bohan looked to flip the momentum as she registered a shot less than two minutes after the goal, but it missed the frame. Gaboury made another save in the closing stages of the half and BC had one last chance as Micah Stine fired a shot that missed wide just before the horn.
- Lynchburg earned the first chance of the half, but a save from Gaboury allowed the Eagles to push the pace and eventually earn a corner kick. Daum took the kick and sent it into Birkley who buried it to knot the game. A minute and four seconds later the Hornets responded as Claire Lloyd found the back of the net to put Lynchburg back in front 2-1.
- The 69th minute saw the Hornets register another shot on net and yet again Gaboury was there to make the save. Stine had a daring opportunity in the 77th minute after a Lynchburg foul. The sophomore's shot beat the keeper but hit the crossbar. Bridgewater had another chance with 10 minutes to go on a corner kick and did not register a shot from the effort.
