How it Happened
  • The early going saw both Eagles trade chances but neither side could generate much offense. Hannah Nugent forced a turnover just outside of the box and turned and fired a shot up towards the upper left corner of the goal and it found nylon to give the home side an early 1-0 advantage.
  • Bridgewater had a chance to extend the advantage just shy pf the 10-minute mark on a corner kick. Skyler Daum fired a shot that hit a UMW defender, and the rebound fell right back to Daum and the senior fired a shot past the keeper but a defender deflected it out of play resulting in another corner kick. Zoe Webster got an opportunity off the kick but her shot sailed wide left.
  • Bridgewater continued to crank up the pressure looking to extend the lead as both Laura Narby and Alicia Keo both rifled shots but neither got to the crease. Mary Washington got their first shot as they flipped the field on the goal kick after Narby's misfire, but it missed over the crossbar. Kaitlyn Venzen got the first shot on goal for Mary Washington and Carlee Gaboury scooped it up to maintain the lead in the 16th minute. Two minutes later Daum forced a turnover in the middle third and fired her chance from just outside the box and put it to the back of the net to give BC a 2-0 edge less than 20 minutes in.
  • Mary Washington controlled much of the possession following the insurance goal from and had a dangerous chance as Gaboury came out of her crease and Mary Washington fired a shot, but Katherine King made the defensive save. Gaboury made a stop in the opening minute of the second half and the Eagles flipped the field as Narby had another chance but her shot missed wide.
