How it HappenedÂ
- Bridgewater got the first real offensive opportunity of the contest in the third minute as Gavin Kast fired a shot that sailed just over the cross bar. The Eagles maintained the early pressure and tried to capitalize off of a free kick in the offensive end as Dicarlo Peredo-Torrico sent the ball in and put it on goal forcing Austin Heid to make the save for McDaniel. A few moments later Anthony Medrano had a decent look from outside the box and put it on the crease as Heid easily scooped it up. Marvin Perez wrapped up the early pressure with another shot on goal but again Heid turned it aside. Â
- McDaniel got its offense going in the 11th minute as Charles Schweinefuss made a save for BC on the Green Terror's first shot on net. Both teams had corner kick opportunities but did not put a shot on net. McDaniel had a chance with a long throw that found its way in the box and led to a shot and Schweinefuss stepped up to keep the game scoreless.
- The Eagles made some substitutions up top late in the first half and they paid off. The Eagles had an advantageous free kick and Luis Orduna got a shot on net, but Heid made the save and knocked the ball out of play leading to a BC corner kick. On the corner, Ali Malik fired a shot, but had it blocked by a defender to keep the zeros on the scoreboard. In the closing minutes of the half the contest was scoreless no more. Orduna sent a ball where Lestath Savage won the race for it and fired a shot to the back of the net making it 1-0 for BC at the break.
- The contest took a turn at the start of the second half. BC had an early chance on a shot that went wide, but after that McDaniel controlled most of the possession. The battle turned extremely physical with both sides earning multiple free kick opportunities but both keepers stood tall keeping it 1-0 BC.
- The urgency continued to increase down the stretch. McDaniel played a deep ball in over the BC back line resulting in a shot by Parks Tolton for the Green Terror. The assistant referee raised his flag on the near sideline to signal offside but before the whistle blew Tolton's shot was saved by Schweinefuss and Carver Neary buried the rebound in the back of the net as the play seemed to be blown dead. The officiating crew got together and ruled the play was onside to make the game knotted at 1-1. Bridgewater put the only shot on frame after the game-tying goal, but Savage's shot was turned aside.
