VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Bridgewater College softball team fell to the No. 13 Virginia Wesleyan Marlins in a doubleheader matchup Thursday evening.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Marlins got the scoring going early with unearned runs in the top of the first. With one down in the frame a throwing error on a ground ball allowed Laci Campbell to score and extend the frame. The Marlins put on the double steal with runners on the corners and were successfully pushing another run across. Another BC defensive miscue allowed for the final run to score making it 3-0 for the home side.
- In the bottom of the second Campbell slapped an RBI single to right field. Pollock followed suit knocked a two-run single down the left field line to increase the lead to 6-0.
- Sarah Prosser and Brooke Anderson scored in the bottom of the third by virtue of an error. In the following at bat Campbell crossed the plate after tagging up on an Emma Adams fly-out to extend the home sides advantage.
- Catlin Myers sent a deep fly to center field that cleared the fence to increase the Marlins lead to 11-0.
- The Eagles got on the board in the top of the fourth as a walk from Torie Shifflett and a double by Sarah Wimer put two runners on for Morgan Lucas. The Shenandoah, Va. native delivered with her ninth home run of the season for a three-run shot making it 11-3.
GAME STATS
- Emily Seale picked up the win for the Marlins in the circle, boosting her record to 15-4
- Lucas tallied her ninth home run of the campaign to extend her ODAC lead in the category.
- Five Eagles registered hits in game one including Wimer who also added a walk.
GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Marlins opened the scoring in game two on a Pollack triple down the right field line. Pollack scored unearned later in the inning on an error. In the bottom of the second Pollack slapped a two run double to right field to make it 4-0 in favor of the home side.
- Brooke Anderson scored on a Campbell groundout in the bottom of the fourth. Sarah Prosser crossed the plate on a Polack sacrifice flyout later in the inning to increase the Marlins lead to 6-0.
- Madison Hudson slapped an RBI triple down the right field line in the bottom of the fifth. Hudson then scored after tagging up on a sacrifice fly-out to increase the lead to 8-0 and end the game in the fifth inning.
GAME STATS
- Lauren Bible picked up the win for the Marlins in 5.0 innings of work and allowed just two hits and a total of three base runners in route to her 11th win of the season
- Kathryn Thomas and Hannah Mahan registered hits for the Eagles in game two.
- Erica Nelson and Savannah Painter combined in the pitching efforts for the Eagles.

The Eagles return to action Sunday April 30 to host Randolph-Macon in season finale double header beginning at 12 p.m.
