BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Bridgewater College softball team fell to the No. 12 Randolph-Macon in a doubleheader matchup Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first inning went scoreless as both sides went down in order. The Yellow Jackets got on the board first in the top of the second as Kayla Davis jacked a home run to left field to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead. R-MC threatened later in the inning as Jessica Pittman doubled with a runner on. A fantastic play from Mckenna Mueller kept it a one-run game as the short stop gunned down the lead runner at the plate from just behind the second base bag.
- The game sat scoreless until the top of the fifth when Naomi Sadler slapped a double down the right field line, driving in two more runs to increase Randolph-Macon's lead to 3-0. Rilee Baughan knocked a single to right center in the following at bat to bring Sadler across the plate making it 4-0 Yellow Jackets.
- The Eagles got on the board in the sixth inning as Brooklynn Fridley reached on an error. The senior stole second and advanced to third as the throw down hit her and scurried into the outfield. Fridley rounded third and scored easily to get BC on the board. Sarah Wimer followed the chaotic play with a home run blast in the following at bat to cut the deficit to just two.
- A scoreless top of the seventh from Erica Nelson in relief kept the game close, but the Eagles went down in order in the bottom of the seventh.
GAME STATS
- Gracie Ellis picked up her 16th win on the season in the circle for the Yellow Jackets, pitching a complete game and allowing just three hits.
- Â Wimer went 2-for-3 at the plate to account for two of BC's three hits.
- Â Fridley registered a stolen base in her chaotic play to move her season total to eight.
- Â Nelson tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief to keep the Eagles in the contest.
GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Randolph-Macon opened the scoring yet again in game two, kicking things off with a Rilee Baughan RBI single to right center in the top of the first.
- Bridgewater had chances to get on the board in the opening two frames but did not capitalize with runners on after the leadoff hitter reached in each frame.
- In the top of the third, Kiley Lamberth slapped single to right field driving in a run for the yellow jackets. Jessica Pittman drove an RBI single to the pitcher's circle to increase the Yellow Jacket lead to 3-0. BC had a chance to respond as Torie Shifflett tallied her second base hit of the contest and moved all the way to third before she was left stranded for the second time.
- Â Baughan doubled to right field I the top of the fourth, bringing Sadler home and increasing the lead to 4-0 for Randolph-Macon.
- The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the fifth after a scoreless inning in relief from Brantley Swift. Jordan Wise stepped up with the bases jacked and knocked a single to center field bringing Shifflett and Wimer across the plate to cut the lead to 4-2.
- Randolph-Macon immediately responded in the top of the sixth as Baughan drove an RBI single to left field to set the lead at 5-2. The Eagles were unable to convert on the two errors made by the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the sixth as they left two runners on base.
- Wimer led the bottom of the seventh off with a base rip, but the Yellow Jackets defense tightened up and got the three outs needed to secure game two.
GAME STATS
- Baughan picked up her 16th win in the circle for the Yellow Jackets, pitching a complete game and allowing seven hits.
- Wimer went 2-for-3 at the dish again in game two.
- Shifflett turned in a 3-for-4 effort at the plate in the contest along with her run scored.
- Both teams left opportunities on the base paths as each team left 10 runners on base and combined for 22 hits.

UP NEXT
The Eagles return to action Friday April 5 to take on Virginia Wesleyan in the first round of ODAC tournament play. The Eagles game will be played at Randolph-Macon, as the Yellow Jackets will host tournament play for pod two as a result of them finishing second in regular season play.
