SALEM, Va. -- The Bridgewater College softball dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader against Roanoke Wednesday evening.
THE BASICS
Final Score: (Game 1) Roanoke 5, Bridgewater 1; (Game 2) Roanoke 6, Bridgewater 2

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got on the board in a hurry, kicking things off with a Sarah Wimer triple to right center that brought McKenna Mueller across the plate to put the visitors ahead 1-0 early.
- The Maroons answered in the bottom of the first as Molly Epperson slapped an RBI single to center field to even the score at 1-1. In the following at bat, Adriana Rivera crossed the plate after tagging up on a Keely Houle sacrifice fly in foul territory putting the Maroons up 2-1.
- Roanoke found it's groove in the bottom of the second inning, exploding offensively. Meri Bostic knocked an RBI single to left center bringing Jordy DiFava across the plate. Later in the inning, Rivera sent a ball to left field bringing in two more runs to puh the Maroons lead to 5-1.
- The Eagles went to Brantley Swift down the stretch and the senior silenced the bats for RC. The Eagles had runners on base in the fifth and sixth and brough the potential game-tying run to the plate in the seventh, but could not push it across
GAME STATS
- Wimer went 2-for-3 at the dish in game one, registering an RBI.
- Jada Karnes picked up the win in the circle, pitching a complete game for the Maroons and pushing her record to 11-3.
- Swift recorded two punchouts and allowed only one hit in 4.1 innings of work to keep the game tight.
GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Roanoke kicked things off in game two lighting the scoreboard up first as Houle reached first on a fielder's choice allowing Morgan Clark to cross the plate. In the following at bat, Rivera scored on a Lilly Burns sacrifice fly-out pushing the Maroons lead to 2-0.
- The home side extended its lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third as Rachel Sirbaugh slapped a two run single to center field bringing Houle and Lauren Hoffman across the plate unearned.
- The Eagles got on the board the top of the fourth as Andrea Savage knocked a single through the left side to bring Brooklynn Fridley and Jordan Wise home to put BC within two.
- The Maroons extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth as Sammy Murphey scored on a Rivera sacrifice fly-out. Madison Cooke knocked a ball through the left side bringing Clarke home unearned to push the Maroons lead to 6-2.
- Torie Shifflett singled with two away in the top of the seventh but was left stranded as the side was retired.
GAME STATS
- Eight different Eagles registered hits in the second contest of the day.
- Savage drove in a pair of runs in game two.
- Lindsay Gedro picked up here eighth win for Roanoke in the circle, allowing eight hits through a complete 7.0 innings of work.
