GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Shenandoah opened the game on fire scoring three of its four runs in the top of the first inning. Tiffany Bower got the scoring started for the Hornets slapping in an RBI single bringing home Brenna Snyder. Taylor Smith singled to center field as well bringing Arlene Miller across the plate for the Hornets. Smith crossed the plate on a Danielle McNeil single, pushing the advantage to 3-0.
  • The Eagles struggled to get on the board in the early parts of the game, finally doing so in the bottom of the fourth on a McKenna Mueller bunt that led to Brooklynn Fridley crossing the plate. Jazmyne smith was thrown out at first on a sacrifice bunt which allowed Sarah Wimer to reach home for the Eagles setting the score to 2-3.
  • In the bottom of the sixth the Eagles tied things up as Cheyenne Barlow crossed the plate due to a throwing error at first base.
  • The Hornets immediately regained the lead in the top of the seventh as Miller sacrifice flied out to third allowing Kristen Blee to score pushing the lead to 4-3.
  • The Eagles were unable to rally back in the bottom of the seventh, going down in short order on two fly outs and a groundout.
GAME STATS

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles stormed back in game two putting up all four of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. Fridley got this started for the Eagles reaching home after tagging up on a Lucas fly out to right center. Jazmyne Smith drove in a run on a single to center field bringing home Torrie Shifflett.
  • Andrea Savage uncorked a deep shot over the wall in left field to bring home Smith on a home run ball which was the final run scored of the day for the Eagles.
  • The Hornets offensive production was stifled until the seventh inning due to stellar pitching from Samantha Martin. The New Jersey native did not allow a hit until SU was down to its final out in the seventh.
  • Shenandoah found the score column on a Taylor Smith triple bringing in Paige Eagleton and Hannah Evans. Smith was hit while advancing to third and was awarded the plate after the ball rolled out of play to make it 4-3.
