LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team earned an 18-7 win at Randolph in its ODAC opener on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ashley Venit scored the first goal for the Eagles only 45 seconds into the opening quarter before Lauren Roberts connected on a free-position shot and Madeline Magill scored back-to-back goals to put BC in front 4-0 less than four minutes into the action. Annika Benson and Venit each registered a goal before Sophia Cirone finally got the WildCats on the board to make the game 5-1 with 9:11 showing on the clock. Faith Bartos found a pass from Jenna Entsminger to put the Eagles up 6-1 before Kaitlyn Clark got on the scoresheet with a goal and Entsminger netted her first of the game to push BC ahead 8-1 with six minutes left in the opening quarter. After a goal from Delaney Kerns, the Eagles led 9-2 after the first 15 minutes.
- Starting off the second period, Kena Gresham scored less than a minute into the quarter followed by Clark's second of the game to get the Eagles out to an 11-2 advantage with nearly 13 minutes left in the half. Miranda Coleman pitched in a goal to make the score 12-2 and start a running clock. Magill struck twice with a pair of assists from Grace Pietro to made it a 14-2 advantage for BC at the break.
- The third quarter saw Hannah Sherin score two minutes in before Kaity Petersheim found the back of the cage on a pass from Aunnie Hacker to make it 16-2. Randolph scored its third goal of the contest at the 4:24 mark of the third quarter but Piertro responded with a goal just two minutes later. The WildCats netted a fourth goal with seconds left in the period to make the score 17-4 in favor of BC after 45 minutes of play.
- Pietro scored off an assist from Lindsay Davis to make it 18-4 three minutes into the fourth as Randolph scored three unanswered to end the game with an 18-7 score.
GAME STATS
- Magill led the team with three goals, while Pietro paced the Eagles with five points on a pair of goals and three assists.
- Venit pitched in two goals and an assist, while Bartos and Kerns each had a goal and two assists.
- Clark scored a pair for BC and Roberts and Entsminger each had a goal and an assist. Petersheim, Sherin, Gresham, Coleman, Benson and Davis all had one point each.
- Sherin and Petersheim each grabbed a pair of ground balls with Magill, Roberts, Coleman and Emily Dell all causing turnovers.
- Roberts and Pietro each snagged six draw controls, while Petersheim grabbed two.
- Rachael Robinson made a pair of saves in the win, while Taylor Batty stopped eight shots in all 60 minutes.

Bridgewater is back in action on Tuesday, March 28, with a home matchup against Eastern Mennonite in nonconference action. The game is set for 6 pm at the Jopson Athletic Complex.
