BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team fell to Randolph-Macon 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches, but
Grace Knighton and
Malena Hoover were able to pick up an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot to keep the match close heading into singles action.
Ryan Roeber opened her match at the No. 5 slot by taking the opening set 6-2, but dropped the second set 3-6 to force a decider. In the third set Katie Sarnowski was able to pick up the win 2-6.
Emily Daigneault also was locked in a battle at the No .2 spot. The fifth-year senior dropped the opening set 1-6 but dug deep to grab the second 6-2 before dropping a tight third set 3-6.
Knighton saw her fist set go the distance on court four. The sophomore had two set points in the tiebreak but dropped the fell 6-7(7), 2-6.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday as they make the long trip to Ferrum for a 3 p.m. date with the Panthers.Â
