STAUNTON, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep of Mary Baldwin on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles got off to a hot start with a sweep in doubles play.
Emma Nesselrodt and
Ryan Roeber took their match at the top spot 8-4.
Malena Hoover and
Grace Knighton teamed up at the No. 2 spot for an 8-2 victory, while
Emily Daigneault and
Emily Wylie took care of business at the third flight with an 8-0 sweep.
In singles play, Wylie was the first off of the court after she cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 spot. Knighton also turned in a clean sheet at the No. 4 spot with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own.

Roeber and Hoover dropped just one game en route to victories at the fifth and third spots respectively with 6-1, 6-0 wins.

Daigneault kept the theme going at the No. 2 spot with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Nesselrodt had to over come a bit of adversity at the top spot. After taking the opening set 6-3, the senior battled in the second set after falling down an early service break. Nesselrodt had a match point serving 6-5, but was broken to force a tiebreak. The local product battled in the breaker and prevailed 7-6 (5).

The Eagles are back in action over spring break as they play three matches while in Hilton Head Island for PTR Spring Tennis Fest.
