How it HappenedÂ
- The opening 20 minutes saw both teams have chances but neither side was able to register a shot. The Eagles maintained the majority of the possession and force a pair of corner kicks but did not get a shot off until the 26th minute as Cole Dunbar's attempt found the post.
- Dunbar continued to highlight the BC offense as he registered the first shot on target in the 36th minute and Tyler Yates made the save. Trey Widrick subbed in the game and instantly made an impact with a shot that went well high of the cross bar. Averett finally got the attack going in the final minute of the half on a free kick, but the shot missed the target.
- The Cougars had a chance just over a minute into the second half as a shot just missed the cage. The Cougars maintained the pressure with another shot, but it was blocked. The Eagles flipped the field on a set piece as Yates made a leaping save on Cole Dunbar's shot and a corner kick as a shot from Declan Gallagher miss high.
- Charles Schweinefuss had to go to work as the game got closer to its end. Averett fired a shot on target and Schweinefuss made a save. The Cougars scooped up the rebound and fired another shot and Schweinefuss just got a piece of it to keep the game scoreless. Averett had another chance on a free kick and again Schweinefuss made a save to keep the game tied with under 10 minutes to go.
- BC had a free kick of their own with under seven minutes to go. Zach Jarvis's initial attempt hit the post and the rebound bounced into the box where Meier buried the rebound to give the Eagles the late lead 1-0. Averett looked to make a move with personnel to try and go more offensive, but it didn't pay off until late as a shot in the final minute was stopped by Schweinefuss to earn the victory.
