Amberger Helps Power Eagles Past Ferrum

BRIDGEWATER Va. -- The Bridgewater field hockey team defeated Ferrum 4-0 to claim its first ODAC win of the season at the Jopson Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Bridgewater 4; Ferrum 0
Records: Bridgewater 3-6 (1-2 ODAC); Ferrum 2-9 (0-3 ODAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first period started with Bridgewater on the attack when Daphne Daymude got a shot blocked just 37 seconds into the game. A multitude of shots were taken but just did not find the back of the net, until Kylie Amberger knocked one in for the first goal of the game. BC fired multiple shots but a great effort by Ferrum's Maggie Cass ended the period, 1-0.
  • Emily Tyler took a shot in the beginning of the second period to help kickstart the offense for Bridgewater. The Eagles continued to press hard on the Panthers still not allowing a shot in the game. BC remained strong shooting the ball five more times before the period's end as the 1-0 advantage held to the halftime break.
  • Daymude issued a shot around the nine minute mark but ended in the same result as the first. Bridgewater fired two more shots, late, before Autumn Just hit the back of the cage on a Daymude assist to go up 2-0 on Ferrum ending the period.
  • With three minutes off the clock in the fourth period, Amberger scored her second goal of the match increasing the score to 3-0. Multiple shots followed from the BC attack but could not find the back of the cage. The final goal of the contest was rocketed in by Amberger, to earn her first hat trick on the season, for Bridgewater to win 4-0.
