THE BASICS
Final Score: Shenandoah 7, Bridgewater 4
Records: Bridgewater 7-7, 5-3 ODAC; Shenandoah 14-2, 7-1 ODAC

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bridgewater got the first shot of the game as Rylie Flick sent a shot off the side of the cage less than two minutes in, but Shenandoah found the back of the cage first as Claudia Lenahan tapped one in with an assist by Madison Short eight minutes into the first period. Minutes later, BC got a penalty corner after a save made that led to a shot from Bekah Mercer that was kicked away. Flick got an attempt in that was stopped by a defender before Mercer found the rebound and played in a pass to Flick to tie the game at 1-1 with four and a half minutes left in the opening period. The Hornets got one more in the cage as Lenahan scored her second of the game to make the score 2-1 at the end of the quarter.
  • The second quarter saw another scoring frenzy that started with a shot from Kylie Amberger from an off-angle that was saved straight up into the air. A flurry of Bidgewater players jumped to swat the ball into the cage as Flick got her second of the game to tie the contest at 2-2. Daphne Daymude had another opportunity that was kicked away before a green card was given to the Eagles. As the card expired, Cassidy Morrison was on the scoring end of a cross-crease pass from Mairead McKibbin to give the Hornets the lead once again at 3-2 with under five minutes in the half. The Eagles were still hungry for the equalizer as Carynn Klingler almost immediately responded with a goal after getting a pass from Daymude to knot the game at 3-3 at the halftime break.
  • The two sides traded opportunities to start the third quarter until Morrison scored off a feed from Farren Winter to give SU the lead at 4-3. The Hornets started to control possession as the period ended with the visitors in front, 4-3.
  • Less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, a shot from McKibbin that was kicked away was found by Morrison who scored her third of the night to give SU a 5-3 lead. Shenandoah added another score off a penalty stroke by Winter to set the score at 6-3 with 10 and a half minutes left in regulation. The Eagles still refused to back down as they scored with two minutes left after a penalty corner by Jade Buckles resulted in a Daymude goal after a feed from Amberger. Following a penalty corner that was called with less than a half second left in the game, the Hornets scored once more on a shot from Mackenzie Watkins to make the final 7-4.
