How it HappenedÂ
- The Eagles wasted little time jumping in front. A Ferrum foul gave BC a dangerous free kick on the foot of the back Dicarlo Peredo-Torrico. The defender found Trey Widrick in the box and the freshman's header found the back of the net to make it 1-0 for the visitors. Â
- Ferrum looked to respond with its first scoring chance but missed wide of the cage. Widrick had an opportunity for his second of the night on the counterattack, but a save by Michael Arzillo spoiled his intentions. Widrick had two more chance early in the first half but neither found the back of the net as the Panter defense blocked a shot and a another save from Arzillo kept it just a one goal game. FC struck on a break away as Peyton Rausch found the back of the net to knot it up at 1-1 just shy of the 30-minute mark.
- The Eagles broek the tie less than 10 minutes later as corner kick gave BC a chance. The ball sailed into the box and Zach Jarvis had his shot blocked but Justin Scott scooped up the loose change and put it in the nylon to give Bridgewater a 2-1 lead nearing the break. Both sides had chances as a free kick from Ferrum cleared the goal line and Gavin Kast fired a shot that missed the frame as the horn expired.
- It took 34 seconds for the Eagles to strike again. Kast fired the last shot before the break and fired the first of the second as he found the back of the net to make it 3-1. Ferrum looked to try and get back to within a goal, but Charles Schweinefuss came up with a save for the Eagles.
- The home side looked to get the offense going and got a shot on goal with under 30 minutes to play but another stop by Schweinefuss kept the Panther's offense in check. Both teams had chances down the break but big plays from the BC defense and Schweinefuss helped the Eagles hold on.
Match NotesÂ
- Scott and Kast each net just their second goal of their careers in the win while Widrick netted his third of the season.
- Widrick led all players with five shots including three on target. Riley Queen and Kast added three shots as well.
- Schweinefuss made five stops while Arzillo added four for the Panthers.
- BC held a 13-9 advantage in shots, bit just a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.
