BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team wrapped up their fall season after a 3-6 loss to Southern Virginia on Wednesday.
In doubles action
Emma Nesselrodt and
Ryan Roeber teamed up at the top spot falling to Snelson/Arnold 2-8. At the second slot
Grace Knighton and
Malena Hoover battled saving three match points trailing 3-6 in the tiebreak before rallying and winning the tiebreak 10-8. At the third spot
Emily Daigneault and Emly Wylie fell 1-8.
Heading into singles trailing 1-2, the Eagles needed four of the six singles matches to perform the comeback. Roeber picked up a straight sets 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 5 spot. Knighton battled her way through again in another tiebreak prevailing at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 3-6, 10-4. Wylie also battled at the No. 6 spot after dropping the opening set 2-6. The junior got the late break of serve to get the set 7-5 but fell in the tiebreak 8-10.
The Eagles finish the fall campaign with their match today and will start their traditional spring season in February 2023.
