BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's soccer team came up just short in a 2-1 loss to No. 25 York.

How It Happened
- Bridgewater had a chance early on a corner kick in the 15th minute. Alex Martinez took a corner kick and found Josh Gilliam who headed a shot just wide of the goal.
- In the 35th minute York broke the tie. An initial cross by York was taken and shot by Drew Ruehlicke off of the crossbar then off of Charles Schweinefuss and into the net.
- In the 68th minute Thomas Vik put a header on net but the door was shut by Brady Bixler for York.
- Bridgewater evened the game in the 77th minute. Vik chipped a pas up-field for Eric Ramirez who took the pass in and burried his shot inside the left post.
- Less than three minutes later York took the lead as Shawn Metz buried a shot off of a rebound for a 2-1 advantage.
- BC had multiple chances in the closing minutes. Cole Dunbar put a header on net but Bixler mad a great save to keep the Spartans in front. Vincent Marra also had a chance in the final minute but missed the frame just wide.
Match Notes
- Gillium and Trevon Phillips were the only Eagles with multiple shots with two each.
- Schweinefuss made four saves on six shots faced. Bixler stopped three shots on the four he faced for the Spartans.
- Bridgewater out shot York 11-9, but the Spartans held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- BC held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon.
- This rounds out the Eagles non-conference schedule at 4-1-2.
