Men's Soccer Falls to No.15 Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's soccer faltered on the road at No. 15 Washington and Lee 5-0 on Wednesday night as it opened ODAC play.

How It Happened
  • Bridgewater got the first shot on goal as Eric Ramirez fired one just past the minute mark but Will Joseph made the stop for Washington and Lee.
  • The Generals struck first in the eighth minute off of a throw in that eventually made its way to Michael Kutsanzira to make it 1-0 for the home team.
  • Samuel Bass extended the lead for the No. 15 team in the country in the 21sst minute as his shot snuck past Charles Scweinefuss in the bottom left corner of the goal to make it 2-0.
  • Washington and Lee added one more right before the break as Patrick Rooney found Carson Cooley who buried his shot in the back of the net to put the Generals up 3-0 heading to the half.
  • The home standing Generals scored two more times in the second half. Tyler Smith put away a penalty kick for in the 65th minute and Lucas Pleasants added another in the 82nd minute to make it 5-0.
  • The Generals defense tightened up in the second half only allowing one BC shot by Zach Jarvis that missed wide right.

  • BC was out shot 27-6 by the Generals and had just one shot on frame.
  • Scweinefuss faced 14 shots on target and totaled a season-high nine saves for the Eagles.
  • Six different BC players got a shot off in the contest. David Quintanilla, Cole Dunbar, Matthew Shelor and Lestath Savage joined Ramirez and Jarvis on the shot chart.
  • The Generals held a 11-4 advantage in corner kicks on the night.
  • The loss is Bridgewater's second on the season. Both have been to ranked opponents on the road.
