Game One

The Basics

  • Records: Bridgewater (14-11, 4-1 ODAC), Guilford (10-15, 1-4 ODAC)

How It Happened

  • After earning a walk on her first at-bat at the game, Hannah Mahan added to her already team-leading stolen base number by taking second. With Jazmyne Smith up to the plate, the sophomore hit her fourth home run of the season to give Bridgewater an early 2-0 edge
  • The Quakers added one to the board in the bottom of the inning on double to right field to make it 2-1. The Bridgewater defense held strong to earn the final two outs of the inning immediately after the run scored
  • Morgan Lucas hit a double down the left field line to start the second inning and advanced to third on an Avery Pinder sacrifice hit. Shifflett drove Lucas home on another sacrifice ball, this time to right field, to give Bridgewater a 3-1 lead. Guilford stayed close, adding another run in the bottom of the third on home run
  • After two scoreless frames in the fourth and fifth, Brooklyn Fridley put a double into play and crossed home on a Quaker error for the 4-2 advantage. With two outs on the board in the bottom of the sixth, Guilford continued to fight by adding one more run on an RBI single to right field.

  • The Eagles bats exploded for a four run, five hit second inning with RBIs from Shifflett, Mahan, Lucas and Fridley for a 6-0 Eagles edge. Playing well on both sides of the ball, Bridgewater followed up their offensive showcase with a three up three down bottom of the second.
