BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 12 Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Lynchburg opened the game with constant pressure getting off the first shot of the game, but not on target. BC got the first shot on frame in the seventh minute as Thomas Vik sent one in but it was easily turned aside by Justin Ennis.
- In the ninth minute a foul in the box awarded Luke Mega a penalty kick but Charles Schweinefuss read it beautifully denying the ODAC's leading scorer and keeping the game tied.Mega got another shot on goal about four minutes later but again to sophomore goalkeeper made the save.
- The Hornets controlled much of the pace of play in the first half dominating the time of possession and also outshooting BC 8-2.
- Just over ten minutes into the second half, the Hornets had a throw in on the near side. taken by Brennan Lagana. Lagana got his pass into Zach Whelan ho headed it in right away to give the Hornets a 1-0 advantage in the second half.
- Bridgewater's best chances in the second half came within a minute span where the Eagles two corner kicks. The first kick bounced around the box before Niklas Hatchett fired a shot that was blocked by a hornet defender and out of play for the second corner kick. On the second attempt, Matthew Shelor had a shot blocked and Zach Jarvis shot the rebound back towards the goal but missed wide of the net. The Eagles did not register another shot in the final 15 minutes.
Match Notes
- Schweinefuss made five saves in a busy day in the crease. Ennis just faced two shots on net and stopped both of them but saw a lot of action as a ball handler as well for the Hornets.
- Vik, Jarvis, Shelor, Hatchett and Lestath Savage all registered a shot for BC with Vik and Savage being the only ones to find the cage.Mega and Manzi Salita led the Hornets with four shots each.
- The Hornets held a 16-5 advantage in shots on the day and a 6-2 adavantage in shots on goal.
- Lyncburg held a hleathy advantage in corner kicks 9-2.
- Schweinefuss' five saves tie for the third most he has had in a game this season.
