How It Happened
  • The Generals controlled much of the pace in the first half. The early pressure in the opening few minutes resulted in an early corner for Washington and Lee in the 12th minute. The Generals did not manage to get a shot off on the initial chance but corralled the pass just on the edge of the box. Sarah Zimmerman fired a shot across the box just past Carlee Gaboury to put WLU on top 1-0.
  • Ashley Sabatino got a shot off for BC in the 23rd minute that was blocked by a defender. Kaia Richardson corralled the rebound and dribbled in the box and was taken down by a defender resulting in a penalty kick for BC. Hanna Randolph took the kick and buried it just inside the left post to tie it up 1-1.
  • Gaboury had to step up in the final minutes of the first half. The keeper made three saves in the final 10 minutes to keep the game even heading into the break.
  • Both teams had chances in the second half with lots of back and forth action. Bridgewater had its best early chance in the 58th minute as Randolph sent a corner kick into the box just missing the runs of Skyler Daum and Kendall Garza leading to a Generals' clear. In the 70th minute BC had another chance as Lyric Birkley had her first attempt blocked. She got the rebound and fired again just wide of the crease.
  • In the 86th minute Emma Mansfield got a shot off for Washington and Lee but it was blocked by Maren Dougherty. Lindsay White corralled the rebound and fired a shot into the back of the net to give Washington and Lee a 2-1 lead.
