Hanna Randolph and
Lyric Birkley each scored twice in the Bridgewater College women's soccer team's 4-0 won over Roanoke on Saturday.

How It Happened
- Each side had chances early including a shot by Hannah Nugent in the third minute that was turned away by Lippi Carrington. Roanoke got their first shot on goal in the ninth minute but Carlee Gaboury was able to make a save for BC.
- In the 15th minute Randolph found the back of the net on her first shot of the afternoon to give Bridgewater a 1-0 lead in the early going. The Maroons tried to return the favor off of the ensuing kick off with two shots but none were on goal.
- In the 34th minute the Eagles earned a corner kick. Randolph took the kick and found Birkley and freshman buried her shot to make it 2-0 BC in the first half. The scoring was not done in the first frame yet though as Randolph found the back of the net again in the 39th minute to make it 3-0 before the half.
- Megan Byle started the second half in net for the Eagles and had her hands full making two stops in the opening 10 minutes of the half to keep the shutout alive.
- In the 67th minute Birkley added her second of the game to put the Eagles on top 4-0 with just over 20 minutes yet to play. Roanoke had one last chance in the closing stages and got a shot off but it ended up wide of the crease.
Match Notes
- Both Randolph and Birkley scored twice for BC. Randolph also added an assist moving her into sole possession of second place in program history in assists with 23. The graduate student also ranks seventh in career goals (25) and sixth in career points (73).
- Carrington made six stops for Roanoke while Gaboury made one and Byle made two for the Crimson and Gold.
- Bridgewater out shot the Maroons 19-9 including 10-3 in shots on net.
- Bridgewater also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- With the shutout victory BC has not allowed a goal in five straight games to tie the second longest streak in program history. The Eagles have also not allowed a goal in nine of their last ten games matching the program record set in 2014. The Eagles have recorded at least 10 shutouts in a season now for the ninth time under Mike Van Horn. This also secures Van Horn's 13th season with double digit wins.
