WINCHESTER, Va. – The Bridgewater men's soccer team worked a 2-2 draw with Shenandoah on Saturday night.

Records: Bridgewater 8-3-3 (4-2-2 ODAC), Shenandoah 3-5-5 (0-4-3 ODAC)
How It Happened
- The Hornets had multiple chances early with three corner kicks in the opening six minutes totallying two shots with just one on goal that was saved by Charles Schweinefuss.
- The first chance for BC counted as Cole Dunbar found Pearce Lowery streaking in the box and Lowery buried his shot to put the Eagles in front just 16 minutes into the game.
- The Hornets again had a flurry of corner kicks to start the second half with three in just over a minute. Shenandoah only had one shot to speak of though as the back line for BC did their job.The momentum swing led to a Bridgewater run. Dunbar fired a shot on goal but it was saved by Travis Jett. Matthew Shelor also fired a shot but it was blocked. Shelor would not be denied on his second shot as Trevon Phillips found him and his shot found the back of the net to give Bridgewater a 2-0 advantage.
- The Hornets did not go away. In the 66th minute Nahan Yared got an opportunity and got his shot past Schweinefuss to get Shenandoah on the board but trailing 2-1. Less than five minutes later, Yared got another chance. On a penalty kick Yared scored to tie the game at 2-2.
- Shenandoah had another chance late with two Yared shots including one stopped by Schweinefuss. BC made one last run of their own as Alex Martinez went for an opening in the bottom left corner but Jett shut the door to secure the tie.
Match Notes
- No Bridgewater player totalled multiple shots in the game. Shelor, Lowery, Dunbar, Phillips and Martinez all registered one for BC.
- Schweinefuss and Jett had almost identical nights statistically with both making three stops on five shots faced.
- Shenandoah out shot BC 14-7 in total and held a massive 12-3 advantage in corner kicks.
- Lowery's goal is the first of his career while Shelor's puts him at five on the year.
- Bridgewater currently sits at third in the ODAC standings after today's tie with three games left. To of those games feature opponents ranked ahead or just below them in the standings with Lynchburg and Virginia Wesleyan.
