STAUNTON, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team opened its season Wednesday with a 9-0 non-conference victory over Mary Baldwin.
The Eagles swept the doubles matches, losing a total of just three games.
Alexia Will and Ryan Roeber were first off the court with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Lauren Kossin and Jada Smith. Bridgewater's No. 1 duo - Whitney Kiser and Malena Hoover - stopped Alexis Seymore and Lauren Hodgkins 8-2. Rachel Crawford and Ali Keister completed the sweep with an 8-1 win over Liz Wine and Summer Wendt at the No. 2 slot.
Bridgewater also controlled singles play winning each of the six matches in straight sets.
Roeber won her collegiate singles debut, defeating Helen Gutierrez 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. Keister scored the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 over Samantha Childs.
Crawford stopped Wendt 6-0. 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Kiser took her match at the No. 1 spot, downing Seymore 6-2, 6-1. Hoover defeated Wine 6-3, 6-2 at No 4 singles and Emily Daigneault completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hodgkins at No. 2 singles.
