VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team dropped matches to Virginia Wesleyan and Salisbury on Saturday in Virginia Beach at the Virginia Wesleyan tri-match.

Game One

The Basics

• Final Score: Bridgewater 1, Virginia Wesleyan 3
• Records: Bridgewater (11-11, 6-4 ODAC), Virginia Wesleyan (20-6, 9-1 ODAC)

How It Happened 

• After dropping set one, Bridgewater bounced back to take set two and tie the match. Ashley Casey had the deciding kill to end the frame
• With the Eagles up 20-18 in set three, the Marlins went on a six point serivce run to complete the comback and go up 2-1 in the match
• Virginia Wesleyan hit a .467 in set four while holding Bridgewater to a .161 on their way to taking the set and the match 3-1

Match Notes

• Ann-Marie Johnson had a career-high 12 kills for the Eagles
• Jessica Bissmeyer recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs
• Casey contributed nine digs and eight kills while Madeline Walker posted nine digs
• Grace Hayes had 33 assists

Game Two

The Basics

• Final Score: Bridgewater 0, Salisbury 3
• Records: Bridgewater (11-12, 6-4 ODAC), Salisbury (12-8, 0-2 CAC)

How It Happened

• The Eagles struggled offensively against the Seagulls, hitting negative for the match
• The teams played point-for-point the early stages of all the three sets with Salisbury capitlizing in the later rallies for the 3-0 win

Match Notes

• Lisa O'Grady and Johnson both put down six kills
• Walker had a career-high 20 digs
• Hayes posted 21 assists

• The Eagles return to Nininger Hall on Wednesday, October 27 to take on Mary Washington on MS Awareness Night. Action is set for 7:00 p.m.
