Lynchburg Blanks Eagles, 5-0

LYNCHBURG, Va. - No. 2 seed University of Lynchburg defeated Bridgewater College, 5-0, Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the ODAC women's tennis tournament.

The Hornets took control of the match by sweeping the doubles competition.

Lynchburg's Reagan Coon and Alissa Anderson put the hosts on the scoreboard with an 8-0 victory over Alexia Will and Caroline Edwards at the No. 3 slot.

The Hornets added a point at No. 1 doubles when Christina Harris and Caroline Guill turned back Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett 8-2.

Lynchburg completed the sweep as Sarah Wyly and Lilli Altenburg held off Rachel Crawford and Stephanie Barton in a close match, 8-6.

The Hornets closed out the match with wins at No.1 and No. 5 singles. Harris won at the No. 1 singles slot, defeating Kiser 6-0, 6-0 while Ellen Druebbisch downed Will 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

The remaining matches were stopped once Lynchburg had clinched the match with five points.
