Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Bridgewater College softball team nearly took both games against last year's second place ODAC regular season finisher, splitting on the road with Guilford.
The Eagles let a sixth-inning lead slip in an 8-6 loss before taking Game 2 by a score of 5-1.

Sydney Layman got the rally going in the fifth with her second solo home run of the game, cutting the deficit to 5-2.
In the sixth, Stephanie Carroll walked home and a throwing error scored three more runs to put the Eagles on top 6-5.
Guilford rallied in the bottom of the sixth however, tying the game on Makayla Crawford's single and then loading the bases. The go-ahead run walked in, and Jordan Starke's RBI single made it 8-6 Quakers.
Layman was 3-for-4 in the opener including her two home runs, while Carroll was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Bridgewater took the nightcap as pitcher Carolyn Campbell dealt well with the Quakers lineup, allowing just one run on four hits and one walk in a complete game victory.
Carroll singled Mikalia Guard and Carlita Tibbs home in the top of the first to give the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish.
Despite Guilford getting one back, Tibbs ripped RBI singles in both the third and fifth innings to stretch the lead to 4-1.
In the top of the fifth, Mariah Wharton's single down the right field line brought Guard around to make the final scoreline 5-1.
BC totaled 13 hits in the victory, with Tibbs going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Lindsey Talley, Layman, Carroll and Wharton were all 2-for-4, while Guard for 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
