BRIDGEWATER, VA. - The Bridgewater College Volleyball team fell to 11-2 on the year after losing to No. 24 Christopher Newport Wednesday night. CNU improves to 10-2 on the year after the non-conference win. The Eagles lost to the Captains in straight sets with a final score of 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 16-25). 

CNU totaled 43 kills on the night with just seven errors while Bridgewater had 31 kills and 18 errors. 

Victoria Wilson led the Eagles with ten kills to go along with ten digs and 13 assists. Taylor Sale added nine kills and Rachael Girard added 12 assists. Macon Frey had 18 digs and Taylor McNeely chipped in nine digs.

Katie Crofford led the offense for CNU with 11 kills. Jose Lucernoni had 15 digs and Taylor McGill led all players with 21 assists.

Christopher Newport held strong and consistent leads for most of the match. They jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in the first set, but Bridgewater fought back, scoring four straight points on errors from CNU to make it 12-7. 

Bridgewater came close to taking the lead for the first time in the match in the middle of the second set. Deja Booker came up with a big kill to make it 13-12, but the Captains ran away with it, scoring nine of the last 12 points. 

CNU came out dominant in the third set, scoring the first five points. Bridgewater made it 19-13 after kills from Taylor Sale and Taylor McNeely, but came up short to lose the set by a score of 25-16. 

BC will look to bounce back on Friday when they travel to Averett for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m.
