BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team won its third ODAC match in a row Wednesday as the Eagles defeated Shenandoah, 8-1, on Mapp Courts.
Bridgewater swept doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead.
Jamiah Lewis and Shannon Quinn were first off the court as the Eagles' pair downed Alyssa White and Emma Crue 8-1 to win at No. 2 doubles.
Stephanie Barton and Whitney Cash rolled to an 8-2 victory over Denise Vollmer and Audrea Wright at No. 3 doubles.
Bridgewater's Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett completed the sweep with an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 over Morgan Fuqua and Melodie Madison.
Bridgewater took its first point in singles when Shenandoah's Vollmer retired at No. 5 singles. Vollemer trailed Cash 5-0 in the first set when play was halted.
Barton claimed the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 over Crue.
Kiser won at No. 2 singles and Quinn took the win at No. 6 as each won her match without losing a game 6-0, 6-0. Shifflett also won at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Madison.
The Hornets claimed their lone point at No. 1 singles where Fuqua turned back Lewis 6-4. 6-2.
