KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Bluffton University broke open a 1-0 game with three runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to pull away for a 9-1 victory Monday over Bridgewater College in spring break softball action.

Bluffton took the lead with a run in the second.

With one out, Chelsea Zoltowski walked and Carly Levindofske followed with an infield single. Molly Haberman then walked to load the bases, still with just one out. Eagles' pitcher Brooke Louden struck out Hill for the second out of the inning, but Makenzie Schmidt drew a walk on a 3-2 pitch to force Zoltowski home with the first run of the game. Louden avoided further damage when she retired Kelsey Reeder on a ground ball to shortstop for the third out of the inning.

The score remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth when Bluffton added three runs to the scoreboard.

Reeder reached on an error to start the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Brittany Huff followed with a homer to left giving the Beavers a 3-0 lead. Josie McElroy and Zoltowski kept the inning going with back-to-back singles and both moved up a base on an error. McElroy scored on Levindofske's groundout, making the score 4-0.

The Eagles scored their run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Stephanie Carroll reached on a line-drive single to center and moved to second on an illegal pitch. Carroll scored on a single to left by Victoria Gontarz, pulling the Eagles to within 4-1.

The Beavers took advantage of three errors to add five runs in the sixth. Bluffton loaded the bases with no outs on three straight infield errors by the Eagles. Kelsi Wilson singled to left, scoring two runs to put the Beavers on top 6-1. Huff then blasted her second homer of the game, this one a three-run shot to center, making the score 9-1.
