BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Three different players found the back of the net as the Bridgewater Eagles field hockey team ran past visiting Virginia Wesleyan by a 3-0 score in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Bridgewater (8-7,4-1 ODAC) got on the board first in a slow-moving first half. After the Eagles earned a corner, sophomore Shannon Strosser ripped a shot on goal and junior Rachael Loy chipped a shot high into the net to build a 1-0 Bridgewater lead at the 20:23 mark. The goal for Loy was her fourth of the season.

Both teams had limited opportunities over the remainder of the first half, but it was Bridgewater taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Virginia Wesleyan (3-11, 1-4 ODAC) went on the attack at the start of the second half, firing a pair of shots on frame but freshman Amanda Harper turned away both scoring attempts to maintain a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.

The Eagles added an insurance goal at the 61:39 mark of the game. Senior Caroline Augsburger fired a hard shot at the cage and Alexandra Clement was on the receiving end and the sophomore chipped a shot into the goal for her first career tally to extend the Bridgewater lead to 2-0.

After the Bridgewater goal, the Marlins pulled netminder Lindsay Baker and opted to use a kicking back for the remainder of the game as Sam Jackson moved back between the pipes.

Bridgewater added the final goal of the game on an Allison Kirk tally. Junior Taylor Prillaman punched a shot on frame but it caromed off of the post. Kirk picked up the rebound and scored to hand Bridgewater a 3-0 victory.

Prillaman led the Eagles with five shots on the day as Bridgewater outshot Virginia Wesleyan by a 14-4 tally. Bridgewater also owned an 11-2 edge in corners.

Harper posted two saves for her sixth win of the year.

Virginia Wesleyan was led offensively by Asiah Allen's two-shot outing while Baker picked up the loss after allowing two goals.

Bridgewater returns to action on Thursday at Eastern Mennonite. Start time against the Royals is set for 7 p.m.
