Both teams had limited opportunities over the remainder of the first half, but it was Bridgewater taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Virginia Wesleyan (3-11, 1-4 ODAC) went on the attack at the start of the second half, firing a pair of shots on frame but freshman Amanda Harper turned away both scoring attempts to maintain a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.
The Eagles added an insurance goal at the 61:39 mark of the game. Senior Caroline Augsburger fired a hard shot at the cage and Alexandra Clement was on the receiving end and the sophomore chipped a shot into the goal for her first career tally to extend the Bridgewater lead to 2-0.
After the Bridgewater goal, the Marlins pulled netminder Lindsay Baker and opted to use a kicking back for the remainder of the game as Sam Jackson moved back between the pipes.
